Natrol Slenderite

Slenderite is a weight loss pill from the rather huge, publicly-traded supplement company Natrol. They’ve got over 100 different products on the market and over 30 years in the industry as well as distribution in all the major supermarket and health food chain stores.

This definitely creates the ethos of a company you can trust, but is Natrol Slenderite Effective or is it just a respectable label?

What’s in Natrol Slenderite

There are five “clinically tested” ingredients (not necessarily clinically proven) in Natrol Slenderite that are intended to “support” (but not necessarily cause) weight loss. The main effects cited are appetite control, decreased carbohydrate absorption, and increased metabolism and calorie burn. In each dose:

  • Chromium (“Chromax” Chromium Picolinate) – 100 mcg – While they claim it may boost metabolism, excess chromium doesn’t necessarily make a difference as long as you have enough of it in your diet. This wasn’t one of the 5 clinically tested ingredients they were talking about.
  • Phase 2 Starch Neutralizer White Kidney Bean Extract – 750 mg – The phaseolus vulgaris extract has been shown in a number of studies to reduce carbohydrate absorption just as claimed, though at a rate that may not get you too excited. In the course of 12 weeks, the average test subject lost about 7 pounds compared to 2.5 pounds with placebo.  That’s a proven increase in weight loss of 4.5 pounds.  Miraculous.
  • Green Tea Extract (Camellia Sinensis) – 270 mg – one of the most common ingredients in weight loss pills, green tea is rich in antioxidants and provides an extra kick of caffeine to boost metabolism.
  • EGCG (Epigallocatechin Gallate) – 135 mg – one of the best parts of green tea, this is a fairly potent antioxidant.
  • 5 HTP (5-Hydroxytryptophan) – 75 mg – a naturally occurring amino acid that is a chemical precursor to serotonin, which may translate into improved mood. This dosage may be a little low to see any effect however.
  • Caffeine – 75 mg – equivalent to the caffeine in a half-cup of coffee, this can give you a kick of energy and burn a few extra calories.

Is Natrol Slenderite Safe?

By all accounts, Slenderite has no significant side effects. With this dose of  caffeine, unless you are very sensitive to stimulants, you shouldn’t experience any sleeplessness or irritability.

How Much is Natrol Slenderite?

Natrol priced Slenderite at $23 per bottle, which is four weeks worth.  You can find it cheaper some places online, especially if you buy in bulk.

Are There Any Cons to Natrol Slenderite?

Two important ones:

  1. It isn’t cost-effective: it may not be super expensive per bottle, but per average pounds lost, Slenderite is pretty weak on value.
  2. No satisfaction guarantee: with such a broad distribution, Natrol doesn’t want to worry about returns and refunds, so they don’t offer your money back if you’re not satisfied with their weight loss pills.

Is Natrol Slenderite Worth Purchasing?

So, assuming that you could maybe lose as much as 9 pounds in 12 weeks on Natrol Slenderite (a conservative estimate based on the study on Phase 2) you may expect to lose about 3 pounds from using on bottle.

If you wanted the full 9, you’d have to buy 3 bottles, which starts getting expensive.  Yes, Slenderite is safe and comes from a very reliable company, but Natrol isn’t really pushing any serious and successful innovations with this weight loss pill.
