Myovite
Myovite from Myogenix is a “performance enhancing” supplement that is marketed to the bodybuilding community. Usually the only kind of weight loss that bodybuilders are interested in is the extra body fat that covers their muscles, so its hard to relate if you have more than 10 pounds to lose.
Even so, Myovite may have benefits for you even if you’re trying to lose weight. The theory is that it provides your body with everything it needs to perform well in the gym and this may help you reach your weight loss goals.
What’s in Myovite?
What ISN’T in Myovite?! Seriously, this is a massive concoction of ingredients. First off You get all the major vitamins you’d find in a basic multivitamin:
- Biotin, Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Vitamin B6, Vitamin B12, Vitamin D, Folic acid, Niacin, Vitamin B2, Vitamin E, Niacin, Pantothenic Acid, Calcium, Iodine, Magnesium, Zinc, Selenium, Copper, Manganese, Chromium and Potassium
The bulk of the formula is 5 proprietary blends:
- ProEnzyme plus Probiotics – 327 mg – ProEnzyme Digestive Enzyme Blend, Protease, Amylase, Lipase, Cellulase, Bacillus Coagulans/Lactic Acid Bacteria, Shiitake Mushroom Extract, Reishi Mushroom Extract, Maitake Mushroom, Aribinogalactin.
- Synerchi Green Food Nutrients – 1521 mg – Pure Barley Grass Juice Powder, Pure Chlorella Powder (Chlorella regularis)
- CardioVascular Support – 241 mg – Alpha Lipoic Acid, Coenzyme Q10, Grape Seed Extract, Acai Berry, Resveratrol, Garlic
- Performance Optimizers – 2302 mg – Beta Alanine, Magnesium Glycyl, Glutamine Chelate, Siberian Rhodiola Rosea, Ashwagandha Root, Natural Braziliam Guarana
- Liver Detox Proprietary Blend – 511 mg – N-Acetyl L-Cysteine, Guggul Herb Extract, Phosphatidyl Choline, Milk Thistle Seed Extract, Dandelion Root, Methionine, Turmeric Root Extract, Artichoke Leaf, Burdoc Root, Yarrow Flower.
- Joint & Tissue Support – 1503 mg – Opti-MSM Methyl Sulfonyl Methane (MSM), Glucosamine Sulfate KCl, Cissus Quandrangularis Extract, Chondroitin Sulfate, Bromelain
With this many ingredients and a body that can only absorb so much a given chemical at any given time, much of this stuff is bound to pass right through you, but you can be sure that you’ll be getting enough of your basic vitamins.
Most of these ingredients are at least thought to do what the proprietary blend title says they do, but a lot of them are only effective in very large doses and there’s no way to tell how much of each is in here. This is the big disadvantage of proprietary blends.
Is Myovite Safe?
All the ingredients in Myovite are generally recognized as safe (GRAS) but the long-term effects of taking a blend like this haven’t been studied. The most common side effect you may notice is that you’ll be urinating more often as the “liver detox blend” has a pretty significant dose of diuretics.
How Much is Myovite?
One bottle of Myovite sells for $45 (marked down from $60) and contains 22 days worth of dosing. It could be a great accompaniment to a thermogenic weight loss pill, but that’s a lot of extra money for not even a month’s worth.
Are There Any Cons to Myovite?
- No clinical studies to prove any of the claimed benefits
- Expensive but comes with no satisfaction guarantee
Is Myovite Worth Purchasing?
With a blend of almost every major health supplement and weight loss pill ingredient (except for thermogenics and stimulants), Myovite is definitely not skimping on variety of ingredients but it isn’t clear that you’re getting enough of each ingredient to make a difference.
Without clinical studies and with undecipherable proprietary blends, we just aren’t comfortable with recommending Myovite. There’s no way to tell if it is significantly better than a generic vitamin supplement for the extra money.
